Catcher in the Rye = serial killer

Journalism, Observations, Writing and Reading

When I picked up Mein Kampf, the investigator also asked if I had ever read Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. I haven’t, but it is most definitely on my reading list for this summer. I’ve been meaning to read it for years now.

“15 out of 18 serial killers own the book, you know,” he said, and we laughed about how he has read the book. It may not mean anything psychologically, but atleast the little random fact is interesting.

Just thought I’d let you know what I’m learning from the police 😀

When I went to the Newnan Police Department yesterday to look for crime and story ideas, I found Mein Kampf on my favorite detective’s bookshelf. As I was glancing at the books on the shelf, I laughed aloud.

“Shooting, How to Talk to Your Teens about Drinking, and Mein Kampf. Nice.”

He admitted that the book was his, and I expressed interest in reading it to actually see what Hitler had written. There are many sides to every story. Even though he conducted destructive and horrifying techniques, no one can deny that he was very successful.

So I took the book. Maybe I’ll actually read it this summer.
